Nataliya’s Xerocon Experience

Nataliya Pahrabitskaya, Walker Hill’s Bookkeeper, is your go-to lady for all things bookkeeping, balancing and data. Earlier this month, Nataliya attended Xerocon, an annual accounting and bookkeeping conference.

Find out what Nataliya thought about the experience in the Q&A below.

Q: We’re here celebrating Xero’s 10th Xerocon. What has been your personal take away from the event?

A: The power of Word of Mouth advertising. 92% of people trust recommendations from friends and family over any other type of advertising.

Q: What was your biggest take away that you want to implement for the Walker Hill clients?

A: I want to give our clients other options to get their documents to us and help them to automate the data entry and transactions coding. This could be done with many of the Xero Apps, including – Receipt Bank (automation of data entry and expense management),  Auto-pay of customer invoices (to assist with cash flow), Xero Expenses (to assist with expense reimbursement to employees), Repeating Templates (to help with the automation of the billing/invoicing processes), and bank rules (to help with the automation of bank reconciliation).

Q: What as your biggest take away that you want to implement for yourself at work and within the firm?

A: The biggest take away for myself and working within the firm is making sure that we have the systems in place to do each job the same way.

Q: What has been the biggest thing you learned from the event?

A: You can make more money, but you can’t make more time. Always find time to hug your loved ones, because tomorrow might be too late.

Q: Who was your favourite keynote speaker and why?

A: Peter Baines, who spoke about leadership and importance of ‘presence’ of leaders. Peter is a very good speaker, he shared heart touching story about his personal experience working in Thailand after the tsunami.

Q: What were some other things that you found interesting about Xerocon this year?

A: The other main things that I took away from Xerocon was to learn about Xero Projects. Xero Projects are ideal for small service businesses who bill for their time and costs on jobs and need to track the profitability of their projects. Together with project management software, Trello, this combination will help users to manage their workflow and capture time easily, so they can invoice accurately in Xero and keep their projects in the green.

The other thing I learned was about Xero’s 10 most requested improvements (PDF Download)  which are being implemented soon.
